Description
Chequers stands beyond a sunlit lawn, its golden stone facade, stepped gables and tall brick chimneys set against a wooded Buckinghamshire hillside beneath scattered white clouds and clear blue sky.
Chequers is shown through its distinctive architecture and parkland setting. The house occupies the middle distance, leaving an uninterrupted stretch of green grass before it and a densely wooded slope behind. Warm masonry stands out against those cooler greens, with the repeated roof peaks giving a measured rhythm to the view across the estate.
Rows of closely spaced windows cross the long facade. Above them, pointed gables alternate with clusters of warm red chimneys, while low glazed roofs and brick walls step down towards the garden. A large tree at the left partly screens the building and throws the near lawn into shade.
