Max Kurzweil was an Austrian painter and printmaker associated with the Vienna Secession movement. Kurzweil's work often explored themes of melancholy, introspection, and the human condition. He died in 1916. 'Good-bye' depicts a scene with soldiers and a horse, rendered in a muted palette.
