Description
At Innerleithen, russet foliage gathers below a rounded grassy knoll; dark conifer slopes meet the pale open hillside beyond, giving this autumn woodland a layered outline.
Golden branches enter from both sides, their rounded leaves set against blue sky. Cream cloud bands stretch across the upper right. Tiny pale forms dot the grassy crest at centre, just above the dark tree line.
At Innerleithen, pale ground sweeps across the farther slopes in broad ochre and mauve tones, while rust leaves gather near the lower edge. The change from bright foreground colour to softer hillside gives the scene depth, with open space across the upper view balancing the dense autumn foliage. The light hillside descends in broad diagonal strokes towards the right edge.
