Description
King's Lynn in Norfolk faces a broad reflective river, with historic waterfront houses and twin church towers rising above the quay beneath a sky of tall white clouds.
About five miles inland from the Wash, this Norfolk port grew through waterways and overseas commerce. Medieval links with the Hanseatic League left a lasting architectural legacy, including Hanse House and former warehouses associated with trade across the North Sea.
Across the water at King's Lynn, red brick gables stand beside a dark blue-grey house with white window frames. Two pale battlemented church towers rise behind the roofs. The quay forms a straight dark edge above wavering reflections, while grasses fringe the near bank. Full green trees and cream-white clouds give the scene the clarity of a summer afternoon.
