Description
Menai Suspension Bridge in north Wales spans still gold-blue water between leafy shores, its white chains and stone towers backed by distant mountains under a warm evening sky.
Thomas Telford’s crossing opened in 1826, linking Anglesey with the Welsh mainland. The town of Menai Bridge grew beside this important route across the strait. Its suspension design remains a familiar landmark at the island’s southern gateway, close to the narrow tidal waters.
White chains sweep between tall orange-grey towers, with arches carrying the approaches towards either bank. Below Menai Suspension Bridge, dark rock islands and leafy branches break the water’s smooth surface. A mountain ridge rises beyond, holding small pale traces of snow. Peach clouds and golden reflections give the scene an evening warmth, balanced by the cooler blue channel.
