Seurat's most famous work, *A Sunday on La Grande Jatte*, exemplifies his revolutionary approach. Unveiled at the eighth (and final) Impressionist exhibition, its rigid, almost statuesque figures, built from countless tiny dots, caused a sensation. While some critics derided its perceived coldness and artificiality, others recognised the dawn of a new era.
