Description
West Voe brings a clear Shetland bay close to its shore houses, with layered rocks, turquoise shallows and low green ground stretching towards the small settlement at Papil.
Rust-coloured seams run through the pale slabs at the water's edge. A narrow strip of sand lies across the bay, beneath small white and grey houses. Their roofs sit low against the open ground, with rounded clouds leaving much of the blue sky uncovered.
Looking towards Papil, West Voe is presented as a small inhabited shore rather than an empty expanse of sea. The retained source places the buildings beyond the same broken rock margin. Changes from clear shallow water to deeper blue create space between the near stones and the homes along the far bank.
