Description
At the edge of the road, a kitsune pauses between the human world and a firelit grove, turning a quiet threshold into a moment of watchful uncertainty.
Seen from close to the ground, the fox has stopped where the pale road leaves the grove. Its body holds the space between open travel and the dark trees behind, while one small light burns beyond its shoulder. Nothing in the scene settles whether the animal is arriving, waiting or preparing to disappear.
Low perspective gives the print its tension, setting the four legged figure against a diagonal road and a restrained pine and copper palette. Rough key lines and softened paper give the image a held breath. This contemporary interpretation is the second work in the four print Oji sequence.
