A scroll above the figures bears the inscription ICH WIL AVCH MIT, which translates to I want to join in as well, adding a layer of narrative humour to the work.

Beham was a prolific printmaker based in Nuremberg, and his work often focused on the lives of peasants, moralising allegories, and classical subjects.
