Description
Across a suddenly open deck, Tomomori directs Ienaga towards the second suit of armour during the lucid, shared pause before both warriors enter the sea.
Although the battle is lost, the commander does not surrender his authority. He orders the vessel cleared, reflects that nothing remains unseen, and prepares for death with his foster brother. The additional armour carried through the scene makes their resolve concrete, turning a remembered statement into action between two people as the abandoned deck opens around them.
This contemporary interpretation uses a bird's-eye diagonal to connect speaker and companion across warm timber. Pine green and oxidised copper replace the preceding clash of red and blue, producing a quieter interval without becoming static. Rigging and receding boards extend the gesture. Space itself carries the instruction from one figure to the other.
