Henk Henriët
Henk Henriët was an artist whose life ended prematurely during the Second World War. He was a member of the Dutch resistance. His arrest in 1944 led to his death in the Neuengamme concentration camp just before the war ended. This history gives a quiet weight to his drawings. Many of his works survived because they were kept by family and friends during the occupation.

Biography
His work often focuses on the human figure through direct observation. In pieces like Zelfportret and Portret van een zittende man, he uses heavy lines to define form. He also explored more imaginative subjects. His drawings of giants, such as Zittende reus en reuzin, show a different side of his practice. These works use scale to create a sense of mystery. He frequently returned to the theme of childhood in sketches like Slapend kind, depicting children in still poses.
Modern collectors appreciate the raw quality of his draughtsmanship. His sketches feel immediate. The monochromatic nature of many of his drawings fits well in contemporary interiors. His work offers a connection to a specific moment in Dutch art history. The combination of realistic portraiture and mythological figures makes his collection varied.
