Remigio Cantagallina
Remigio Cantagallina was more than a draughtsman; he was a primary influence on the development of European etching. Based in Florence, he taught Jacques Callot and Stefano della Bella, two of the most famous printmakers of the seventeenth century. While many of his peers focused on religious themes, Cantagallina travelled as far as the Netherlands to document foreign architecture and stone monuments.
