Description
A' Ghlas-bheinn in Kintail, Highland, presents a bright winter panorama of snowy crests and dark gullies, with purple heath and exposed rocks adding texture beneath the pale sky.
Close to Morvich in Ross-shire, this rocky Munro reaches 918 metres in the Northwest Highlands. It belongs to the Kintail hills, and its ascent can be combined with a visit to the Falls of Glomach, connecting summit terrain with the surrounding glens.
Snow blankets the ridges around A' Ghlas-bheinn, leaving irregular grey rock patches on the steeper faces. A deep blue shadow follows the central gully below a rounded high point. Near boulders break through cream coloured snow and muted purple plants. Distant hills fade into lavender bands. Thin pink clouds suggest soft winter afternoon light, giving the white slopes a warmer tone against the cool hollows.
