Description
Achnahaird Bay on Coigach, Highland, curves around turquoise surf and pale sand, with rough foreground ledges and purple heath setting off a distant line of pointed blue mountains.
An inlet of Enard Bay, this beach lies on the Coigach peninsula in Wester Ross. Its open sandy shore is backed by low rugged country, with the wider bay connecting the peninsula's northern edge to the waters off Scotland's northwest coast.
At Achnahaird Bay, white waves follow a broad arc towards an empty cream beach. Near grey rocks enclose a shallow pool, and flowering purple plants spread through the grassy foreground. A few fence posts follow the right edge above the shore. Beyond the low headlands, distinct mountain shapes fade into blue. Clear light and blooming heath suggest a bright day late in summer.
