Description
Amble / Coquet Island pairs a white lighthouse compound with black sea cliffs, turquoise water and a broad sweep of sand beneath bands of cloud.
The artwork places a tall white lighthouse at the centre of a low, walled island, with ochre roofs and dark rock ledges beneath it. Turquoise shallows, a narrow line of offshore rocks and a clean sandy beach create wide horizontal bands, while long white clouds stretch across the blue sky.
Amble / Coquet Island brings the Northumberland coast into a clear, open view. Visitors may recognise the beach approach and the beacon offshore; residents can return to the familiar shift between grass, rock and sea along this stretch of shore.
