'And smote Job with sore Boils' is an engraving from Blake's series of illustrations for the Book of Job, completed in 1825. The image depicts Job afflicted with boils, a test of his faith imposed by Satan with God's permission. Job lies prostrate, covered in sores, while a figure stands over him, seemingly casting a shroud. A grieving woman kneels nearby. The composition is framed by text from the Book of Job and decorative elements, including bats and spiders, adding to the scene's symbolic weight.
