Description
Aonach Beag (Nevis Range) in Lochaber, Highland, opens across snowy crags towards distant blue water, its dark near boulders emphasising the height and scale of the mountain panorama.
East of the Ben Nevis massif, the mountain reaches 1,234 metres and forms one of Britain's highest summits. Outside the Cairngorms, only Ben Nevis exceeds it, placing this Lochaber peak among the substantial high ground overlooking the western glens.
The view around Aonach Beag (Nevis Range) crosses a snow filled corrie beneath a rounded white crest. Dark rock buttresses divide the cover into branching ribbons, while green lower slopes fall steeply away. Near black boulders protrude from a broad snowfield. Farther out, blue water winds among hazy ridges beneath cream clouds. The mix of substantial snow and exposed lower grass suggests bright late spring conditions.
