Description
Askival on Rùm in the Inner Hebrides rises to a sharp grey crest, its grassy flank dropping towards distant blue water beyond a boulder strewn foreground ridge.
At 812 metres, this is the highest mountain on Rùm, one of Scotland's Inner Hebridean islands. It belongs to the island's Cuillin range, where the high ground forms a rocky skyline above the surrounding sea and lower coastal terrain.
A narrow ridge leads directly towards Askival's pointed summit, with pale broken stones scattered across the approach. One flank appears green and sunlit, while the other is a broad grey face cut by dark seams. Blue water and low islands extend to the left, beneath distant hazy heights. Cream cloud banks and snow free slopes suggest a clear summer day high above the coast.
