Description
Bala Lake in Gwynedd mirrors orange evening clouds around moored sailing boats, with a pale lakeside house and dark trees below a broad mountain rising above the still blue water.
Known in Welsh as Llyn Tegid, this glacial freshwater lake lies beside Bala within Eryri National Park. It is the largest natural lake in Wales, stretching roughly three and a half miles, and supports the rare gwyniad fish in its deep waters.
Two ducks drift beside the rocky edge of Bala Lake, below a white yacht and its long mast reflection. A smaller boat rests near a pale house among trees on the opposite shore. Gold and rose clouds repeat across the water, with a broad blue mountain beyond. Full foliage and warm light suggest a tranquil summer evening.
