Description
Beccles on Suffolk's Waveney offers a riverside gateway to the Broads, with a church tower, clustered roofs and moored boats seen above a winding channel through flat green country.
Beccles sits beside the River Waveney at the southern end of the Suffolk and Norfolk Broads. Its quay provides public moorings, while St Michael's church and the town's tall bell tower are prominent features of a settlement closely connected with boating and the surrounding waterways.
From above the rooftops, the view follows a broad river bend towards a flat, tree lined horizon. White boats gather along both banks below green fields, while brick and cream houses fill the nearer slope. A square stone tower with a red edged clock occupies the lower right. Dense foliage, bright lawns and soft blue water suggest a clear summer day over the valley.
