Description
Beinn Bhrotain rises west of Glen Dee in Aberdeenshire's Cairngorms, a remote and extensive Munro whose great slopes overlook a landscape of winding burns, open glens and high plateaux.
West of Braemar, this Cairngorm summit reaches 1,157 metres. The mountain occupies an isolated position beyond Glen Dee, with its northern flank dropping sharply towards Glen Geusachan. Approaches from the Linn of Dee involve a lengthy journey through the surrounding upland valleys.
Beinn Bhrotain dominates the left of the view, its broad face broken by pale rock channels and deep purple shadows. A silver stream bends repeatedly across the golden valley floor beneath it. Rust and plum coloured vegetation fills the foreground. Orange clouds and warm summit light suggest sunset in early autumn, with distant ridges fading into the evening haze.
