Description
Beinn Lair in Wester Ross, Highland, reveals a long grey cliff edge above a green valley, where a winding silver stream and distant dark loch emphasise the mountain's steep drop.
On the Letterewe estate northeast of Loch Maree, this 859 metre mountain belongs to Scotland's Northwest Highlands. Its northern cliffs are a notable feature of the remote ridge country, contrasting with the more open upper ground reached by long approaches through Letterewe.
The Beinn Lair escarpment fills the right side, its grey buttresses cut by deep shadow and edged with narrow green ledges. Far below, a silver stream zigzags along the valley towards a small dark loch. Pale purple ridges recede beyond the hollow. Low heath and broken stones occupy the near cliff top. Warm grass and snow free heights suggest late summer beneath softly lit cream clouds.
