Description
Beinn Sgritheall above Loch Hourn brings the Highland coast into sharp relief, its pale summit scars rising over deep blue water and a golden hillside dotted with dark shrubs.
Beinn Sgritheall is the highest mountain on the Glenelg peninsula in northwest Scotland. Reaching 974 metres, it is classed as a Munro. Climbers often start from Arnisdale beside Loch Hourn, although the northern approach through Gleann Beag offers another way onto the mountain.
Here the loch stretches across the middle of the scene, separating tawny foreground grass from a steep mountain wall. Small streaks of white linger along the highest ridges, suggesting late spring conditions. A single slender tree stands against the water on the left, while grey boulders and olive scrub anchor the near slope beneath an airy blue sky.
