Description
Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich in the remote Highlands rises beyond turquoise water, its snow covered crags contrasting with tawny moorland and the low rounded shoulders of the surrounding hills.
West of Loch Monar, a remote ridge lies between Glen Carron to the north and Glen Shiel to the south. This part of the Northwest Highlands forms a horseshoe of Munros around the loch, east of the strath of Bearneas and the Attadale Forest.
The snowy summit of Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich fills the centre, with dark rock showing through a dense pattern of white gullies. Undulating ochre slopes lead down towards a clear blue lochan edged by pale shallows. Heather and scattered boulders occupy the near bank. The brown low ground beneath the bright high snow gives the scene a late winter or early spring character.
