This abstract composition by Joan Miró features a playful arrangement of shapes and symbols against a yellow backdrop. 'Bouquet of Flowers. Smile of My Blond' exemplifies Miró's signature style, blending childlike simplicity with Surrealist sensibilities.
Joan Miró (1893-1983) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist associated with Surrealism. His work is characterised by a childlike simplicity and a playful use of colour and form. Miró sought to tap into the subconscious mind, creating art that was free from the constraints of reason and logic. He developed a visual language of symbols and signs that recur throughout his oeuvre. His mature style evolved during the 1920s, influenced by Surrealist poets and writers in Paris. He explored automatism, a technique of spontaneous creation, to unlock the creative potential of the unconscious. Miró's art often features biomorphic forms, geometric shapes, and calligraphic lines, arranged in dreamlike compositions. 'Bouquet of Flowers. Smile of My Blond' presents a composition of abstract figures and symbols against a yellow background. The work features a central triangular form with radiating lines connecting to various shapes, including a star, an eye, and what appears to be a keyboard. The title is inscribed along the lower portion of the image. The overall effect is whimsical and imaginative, inviting viewers to interpret the imagery and engage with the artist's unique visual vocabulary.
