Description
Bracklinn Falls near Callander pour cream white water through a steep purple gorge, with green woodland and distant hills beneath golden clouds as warm evening sunshine lights the late summer sky.
The Keltie Water descends through this rocky gorge northeast of Callander, in the eastern part of the Trossachs National Park. The falls cut through beds of conglomerate and sandstone. Woodland paths follow the river, linking the lower crossing with an upstream bridge and the broad Scout Pool.
Bracklinn Falls plunge over successive dark ledges between tall purple grey rock walls. Cream white water fills the narrow central chute before spreading around low blocks into a shadowed pool. Moss clings to the upper ledges beneath thick green trees. A distant rounded hill appears below gold and pink clouds, suggesting warm evening light late in summer.
