Description
Broad Crag in Cumbria rises in dark rock tiers above branching snow gullies, with gold grassy shelves and purple near boulders under orange evening clouds as low spring sunlight catches the rocks.
This 934 metre fell forms part of the Scafell chain, a short distance northeast of Scafell Pike. Ill Crag lies to the southeast, with Great End farther north. Routes from Esk Hause and Bowfell pass through this high mountain district on the approach to England’s highest summit.
Broad Crag presents dark rounded cliffs cut by branching white snow gullies. Gold grass covers small shelves between the rock faces, descending towards the shadowed valley on the left. Purple near boulders interrupt the steep lower slope. Orange and rose cloud bands catch low sunlight above distant ridges, suggesting a spring evening with extensive snow still held in the hollows.
