Description
Broadford pairs white shore houses and glassy blue water with the jagged Cuillin beyond, giving this Skye harbour a clear sense of arrival on its eastern shore.
Pink-grey rock shelves step into the bay beside pools of reflected sky and scattered seaweed. A cluster of white, red-roofed houses sits among dark green trees on the far shore, their chimneys picked out against the water. Behind them, a long saw-toothed mountain range carries pale lilac shadows and sunlit faces. Heather and yellow flowers edge the near slope under layered cloud bands.
Broadford is often the first settled shoreline encountered after crossing onto Skye, where the view turns from harbour water towards the Cuillin. For someone arriving by road, staying nearby or returning across the bay, the houses, tidal rocks and pointed ridge can bring back that first widening of the journey.
