Description
Buchan in Aberdeenshire has a coast shaped by cliffs and maritime communities, with a red and white lighthouse standing above purple sea and headlands in this glowing evening view.
Buchan's northeastern Aberdeenshire coast includes Peterhead, mainland Scotland's easternmost point, and the seabird cliffs of the Bullers of Buchan. Coastal settlements and agricultural heritage together define an area where worked inland country meets the exposed shores of the North Sea.
A tall lighthouse with a broad red band dominates the scene, its dark lantern catching warm orange light. Low white buildings cluster around its base above green slopes and rough grey rocks. Beyond, successive cliffs recede into a purple sea, with the low sun casting a gold streak towards the right. Full grass and flowering purple shrubs suggest late summer under a richly coloured evening sky.
