Description
Buckie catches Moray's coastal sunset around a working harbour, where fishing boats, quay buildings and distant town roofs reflect in orange and mauve water beneath a low sun.
On the Moray Firth, Buckie grew around fishing and its harbour. The Cluny family built the present Cluny Harbour in 1877, replacing an earlier stone harbour that suffered from silting. This maritime infrastructure made the town a major fishing port along the coast.
White and blue fishing boats rest beside the near quay, with an orange vessel moored farther right. Open sheds and low harbour walls divide the glowing water from the sea. A low sun hangs above the left horizon, spreading gold through peach and mauve reflections. The clear evening suggests a mild summer sunset, with distant houses lining the darker coastal slope beyond the boats.
