Description
Burghead combines the closeness of a Moray harbour with a generous coastal horizon, giving a favourite fishing town a bright setting for a home shaped by sea journeys.
Two skylights interrupt the slate roof of a buff stone house, with an outside stair descending from its upper doorway. Three blue hulls sit beside the quay, their white cabins reflected below. Across the long outer wall, a pale beach sweeps towards wooded ground and low blue ridges.
The grassy fort earthworks above Burghead allow the sheltered basin and the Moray Firth to appear together. Rough boulders and dark shrubs keep the near slope tangible before the masonry and moorings begin. Anyone who enjoys watching a port from higher ground can appreciate this comfortable distance, close enough for the stair and roof details, yet broad enough to follow the whole curve of shore.
