Description
Burton upon Trent in East Staffordshire grew beside its river and became a brewing centre, with leafy banks and a decorative footbridge giving this view a calm waterside focus.
The town stands near Staffordshire's border with Derbyshire and owes much of its identity to brewing and river transport. Its historic parish church, St Modwen's, occupies Market Place, where the eighteenth century building replaced the church of the former abbey.
Burton upon Trent appears here across blue green water, crossed by a dark suspension footbridge with pale piers and decorative panels. Trees almost conceal the houses behind it. A stone tower rises at the left, while a red brick clock tower punctuates the right skyline. Pink flower spikes and reeds crowd the near bank, their summer colours bright against the cooler river reflections.
