Description
Bury's Market Place opens around the Robert Peel statue, with St Mary's tall spire and ornate town-centre frontages rising above the paving in a sunlit civic scene.
In Bury, the square is bordered by richly detailed stone buildings. Pointed dormers project above tall upper windows on the left. The statue stands on a stepped plinth, while a small weather vane crowns the complete church spire at the opposite side.
Pale slabs spread across the foreground, crossed by deep angular shadows. Green patina distinguishes the standing figure from its warm stone base, and leafy trees soften the space behind it. The low viewpoint gives Bury's civic architecture room to rise against clear blue sky, holding the monument and neighbouring doorways within one open street setting.
