Description
Camas Sgiotaig on Eigg in the Highlands follows pale sand beneath a long cliff rim, where dark shore rocks and a calm blue bay create a clear summer coastal view.
On Eigg’s northwest coast, Camas Sgiotaig is the bay known as the Singing Sands. Dry grains can make a squeaking sound when scuffed underfoot. The shore lies below the high ground of Beinn Bhuidhe, reached on foot from Cleadale through an area of beaches and rocky coastal scenery.
The beach curves away from a grassy bank dotted with small purple flowers and grey boulders. Flat dark outcrops project into light blue water, breaking the sand into shallow coves. A continuous cliff edge stretches across the upper left, its shaded faces divided by green gullies. Fine white surf and soft cloud banks suggest a gentle day in the warmer months.
