Description
Cardigan Island stretches across a bright blue sea, its grassy plateau and broken cliffs set beyond a broad sandy shore under banks of cream cloud.
Viewed from the mainland shore, the island forms a low strip of land beyond open water. Grass runs along its upper edge, while exposed rock drops steeply towards the sea, with a small detached rock just off its left end.
On Cardigan Island, grey and ochre cliff planes break into narrow recesses beneath a green skyline. Turquoise water fills the middle distance, turning paler where it reaches the beach. White waves move in uneven bands towards damp sand. Above the island, rounded cream clouds gather beneath long wisps of white, leaving a large stretch of clear blue sky.
