Description
Carluke in South Lanarkshire spreads pale houses among green fields, with white wind turbines across purple uplands beneath layered clouds on a bright afternoon towards the end of summer.
Carluke occupies a high plateau above the Clyde in South Lanarkshire, within an area known for fruit growing. The town lies northwest of Lanark and southeast of Wishaw. Its industrial history includes corn milling and cotton weaving, alongside coal mining and the manufacture of jam.
Pale houses form close curved rows among a patchwork of green fields and hedges. White wind turbines spread across purple and brown uplands beyond the town. Narrow lanes connect scattered farms through the surrounding countryside, with dark woodland filling the lower hollows. Layered cream clouds above the warm field colours suggest a bright afternoon towards the close of summer.
