Description
Càrn Glas-choire in the Highlands lies beneath a peach winter sky, its low snowy dome rising beyond dark heather and gentle undulations warmed by the last light of day.
North of Carrbridge, this rounded hill reaches 659 metres at its summit. It is the highest point of the historic county of Nairn. The surrounding uplands belong to a quieter stretch of Highland moorland, with broad heather slopes instead of the higher range’s more dramatic corries.
At Càrn Glas-choire, snow forms pale ribbons across the foreground and a broad white cap on the distant dome. Dark purple heather breaks through in irregular patches, casting soft blue shadows over the shallow drifts. Ochre grass appears along the nearest hummocks. Above, peach clouds deepen towards lavender at the top of the sky, giving the open winter scene a gentle evening warmth.
