Description
Cat Bells rises in a sharp green ridge above blue Derwentwater, its pale crest path catching Cumbria's open, breezy, lakeside character on clear days.
Warm grey crags interrupt the grassy foreground, where a stone path steps downhill through heather and low vegetation. Across the water, small wooded promontories break the shoreline before fields climb towards a sequence of soft blue fells. The central summit carries broad bands of olive, ochre and shadow, with a thin footpath running directly over its spine. Flat cream clouds stretch across the high sky.
Cat Bells offers the kind of Lakeland view that stays close after a walk, with Derwentwater opening below and the surrounding fells changing distance beyond it. Residents and visitors who know the ridge may recognise its steady upward line, the lake's quiet breadth and the route continuing over the crest.
