Description
Coigach in the western Highlands opens from heather slopes onto a long blue loch, with isolated mountain forms and scattered islands drawing the eye towards a distant coastal horizon.
Coigach is a peninsula north of Ullapool in Wester Ross, facing the Summer Isles and open sea. Its crofting and fishing communities occupy a coast broken into headlands, bays and islands. Inland, separate mountains rise abruptly from moorland dotted with lochans, giving the district its distinctive scale.
From the high viewpoint, purple heather and grey rocks descend towards a winding blue loch. A pointed crag stands to the right, balanced by a broader broken ridge on the left. Small rocky islands interrupt the water, and a thin path follows its far bank. The warm brown slopes, bright cloud reflections and long visibility suggest late summer or early autumn in the hills.
