Description
Combs Moss / Eldon Hole / Swine Sty sets a deep limestone chasm beneath moorland slopes, with sunlit grass, dark heather and a broad amber sky.
The view centres on a sheer, stone-walled chasm, its dark floor scattered with boulders and pools of shadow. Tall grey limestone faces rise on either side, marked by vertical joints and ledges of grass. Beyond the rim, low moorland rolls towards a rounded summit, broken by swathes of russet heather. Gold light reaches the upper rocks and the open ground, while mauve clouds gather across the wide sky.
Combs Moss / Eldon Hole / Swine Sty brings the drama of the limestone edge into a carefully observed composition. It suits anyone drawn to the meeting of open moor and exposed rock, with the eye moving from the shadowed hollow to the warm distance above it.
