Description
Construction AL6 is an abstract composition by László Moholy-Nagy, featuring geometric shapes and a limited colour palette. The arrangement of the shapes creates a sense of movement and depth.
László Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) was a Hungarian painter and photographer as well as a professor in the Bauhaus school. He was a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts. His work explored the use of photography and industrial materials in painting and sculpture. He experimented with light, transparency, and motion, aiming to create a dynamic visual experience. Moholy-Nagy believed that art should reflect the modern world and contribute to social progress. He moved to the United States in 1937 and founded the New Bauhaus in Chicago, continuing his mission to integrate art, technology, and education. Construction AL6 is an abstract composition featuring geometric shapes and a limited colour palette. The painting consists of overlapping circles in black, grey, and white, along with a red and a blue polygon. The background is a soft, cloudy grey. The arrangement of the shapes creates a sense of movement and depth, inviting the viewer to contemplate the relationship between form and space. The work reflects Moholy-Nagy's interest in the principles of Constructivism and his exploration of the interplay between colour, shape, and texture.
