Description
Cowal Way follows a stony hillside path through purple heather, opening towards a broad loch where blue mountain slopes and small islands meet the horizon.
Heather spreads in purple bands beside a pale walking path, while a rough dry-stone wall guides the eye along the slope. Below, dark woodland reaches into a wide loch broken by low islands and rocky points. A blue-grey mountain rises beyond the water under high, layered clouds, bringing distance and coolness to the open view.
Walkers on Cowal Way can recognise the pleasure of a route that keeps shifting between close ground and expansive water. The wall gives the scene a human scale, while the loch and mountain form a generous backdrop for a day on the trail.
