Description
Craig Berwyn in northeast Wales looks across snow-striped mountain slopes, with a lichen-covered upright stone, brown heather and dark conifer belts beneath the bright clouds of a clear winter day.
Craig Berwyn occupies the northern end of the main Berwyn ridge in northeast Wales, near Cadair Berwyn. At roughly 790 metres, it marks the highest ground in Wrexham county borough. Open upland slopes and connecting ridges characterise this less frequently visited Welsh mountain area.
A tall narrow stone leans slightly in the foreground, its grey surface mottled with yellow-green lichen. Brown heather and pale grass surround scattered patches of snow. Across the valley, dark conifer blocks interrupt the open slopes, while a steep curving escarpment carries longer white streaks. Clear winter sunlight gives the distant ridges a blue cast beneath rounded cream clouds.
