Description
Craigowl Hill rises north of Dundee in Angus, the highest summit of the Sidlaw Hills, with open slopes and a recognisable cluster of communications masts above the surrounding fields.
North east of Kirkton of Auchterhouse, the hill reaches 455 metres and forms the highest point of the Sidlaw range. Walking paths connect it with Balkello and Auchterhouse hills from the community woodland, while a trig pillar shares the summit with telecommunications equipment.
Craigowl Hill appears beyond a band of pale houses, slate roofs and a pointed church spire. Green fields climb towards tawny slopes, with several masts silhouetted along the crest. Dark tree belts divide the lower ground. Soft blue and cream clouds fill the sky, while purple heath and warm grass suggest late summer or the start of autumn.
