Description
Craster on England's northeastern shore sets warm roof edges against blue waves and dark flat ledges, with broken distant towers lending the horizon an unmistakably dramatic silhouette.
A fishing harbour and traditional kipper smokehouse give Craster its distinctive coastal identity. From this Northumberland village, a walking route follows the shore to Dunstanburgh Castle, bringing the working waterfront and the remains of the medieval fortress into the same coastal journey.
Grey houses with warm roof edges stand above dark rock shelves. Beyond them, broken castle towers rise from a grassy headland, clearly outlined against the pale lower sky. Blue water fills the right side, with white surf reaching into narrow gaps between the rocks. Yellow-green vegetation and strong sunshine suggest summer along this exposed stretch of coast.
