Description
Crianlarich in Stirling looks along calm blue river water towards snowy purple peaks, with leafy banks and pale near rocks beneath towering cream clouds in bright sunshine on a late spring afternoon.
This village lies in Strath Fillan, about eight miles north of Loch Lomond, among the long glens of Breadalbane. Its position made it an important staging point on routes through the Highlands. Military roads met here in the eighteenth century, followed later by the West Highland railway junction.
Crianlarich overlooks a broad blue river between leafy green trees and pale grassy margins. Large flat rocks edge the near bank, while small sandy bars project from the left. Purple mountains carry thin snow bands above the wooded strath. Towering cream clouds leave bright blue openings, suggesting clear sunshine late in spring beside the slow reflective channel.
