William James Glackens, a member of the group known as The Eight, spent several summers in Gloucester, Massachusetts, during the early twentieth century. This work captures the coastal atmosphere through a lens influenced by his exposure to French Impressionism, particularly the work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
