Description
Elie on Fife's southern coast looks out from a grassy rocky headland, where a white lighthouse stands above blue water and a distant shore beneath wide cream clouds.
In the East Neuk, Elie combines a small harbour with a sheltered sandy bay that joins Earlsferry's beach at low tide. The coastal route continues towards the lighthouse and Lady's Tower, linking the settlement's seafaring setting with rocky promontories and long stretches of sand.
A white tower and lower companion building occupy a low green rise. Dark rocks ring the headland, with a narrow bridge and steps leading over a small inlet. The sea glints brightly to the left while a hazy blue coast lies beyond. Golden grass suggests late summer, and strong sunshine makes the lighthouse's shaded sides particularly crisp against the open water.
