Description
Eriboll in the northern Highlands traces a pale rocky shore beside clear blue water, with grassy banks and scattered white houses drawing the eye towards the broad Sutherland hills.
Eriboll is a settlement on the eastern shore of its namesake sea loch in Sutherland. The long inlet reaches inland from Scotland’s northern coast, with high ground on either side. Its sheltered waters have long offered an anchorage, contrasting with the exposed sea beyond the entrance.
From the grassy near bank, rough stone steps descend towards a pale shingle beach edged with ochre seaweed. Grey rock shelves and small boulders follow the water around the curve of the bay. Across the loch, scattered white houses sit below long green mountain shoulders. Cream clouds and strong blue reflections give the sheltered summer scene a bright, cool northern light.
