A triptych by Walter Crane, *Europe, Asia, Africa* features three women in continental dress, posed around a basin. The architectural setting and warm colour palette evoke a Moorish or Middle Eastern influence.
Walter Crane (1845-1915) was an English artist and book illustrator. He is considered one of the most influential children's book creators of his generation and, along with Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway, is one of the strongest contributors to the child's nursery motif that would dominate illustrated books. He was a proponent of the Arts and Crafts movement and produced an array of paintings, illustrations, children's books, ceramic tiles, and wallpaper designs. *Europe, Asia, Africa* is an oil on panel work featuring three women in a triptych format. Each woman is dressed in clothing representative of her respective continent. They are posed around a large, ornate basin, pouring water into it from vessels. The architectural setting suggests a Moorish or Middle Eastern influence, with arched openings revealing a sky backdrop. The colour palette is warm, with golds, reds, and pinks dominating the composition.
